Ambassador Patrick Gaspard | 10/21/2014
Hello, I’m Patrick Gaspard, U.S. Ambassador to South Africa.
I want to talk to you about the single most exciting thing happening on the continent today – The Mandela Washington Fellowship of the Young African Leaders Initiative.
Consider this your personal invitation to apply to become a 2015 Fellow. If accepted, you will join 500 young leaders – Africa’s best and brightest – who are innovating in business and entrepreneurship, civic engagement and public management, as they get the chance to spend six weeks studying at the finest US universities, followed by a one-week summit in Washington, DC hosted by President Obama. The program will take place in June and July 2015.
Becoming a Mandela Washington Fellow gives you access to top academics, public servants, and business leaders in the United States, as well as connections with 500 young leaders who will be building the Africa of tomorrow. Alumni of this program include journalists, environmental activists, education reformers and dynamic entrepreneurs. Fellows have access to the alumni network, internship opportunities, and over one million dollars in seed funding.
Now doesn’t that sound pretty cool? Please hurry and visit our website to learn more and apply. Applications are available now, and the deadline is November 5, 2014.
Thank you for committing to South Africa’s development. You are the generation we have all been waiting for.
