The United States Consulate General in Durban wishes to inform U.S. citizens that a demonstration is scheduled to take place in the Durban Central Business District today, July 18, 2016.  The demonstration will be held by Treatment Action Campaign and +Section 27 to bring awareness to AIDS and tuberculosis in South Africa.  The demonstration is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. at King DiniZulu Park and to end around 3:00 p.m. at the speaker’s corner on Walnut Road. The number of expected demonstrators is unknown at this time.

Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. You should avoid areas of demonstrations and exercise caution if in the vicinity of large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
