Security Alert – U.S. Consulate General Cape Town (May 26, 2022)
Location: U.S. Consulate General, Cape Town
Event: The U.S. Consulate General in Cape Town would like to advise visitors that Reddam Avenue between the U.S. Consulate General and Steenberg Village incurs frequent criminal acts against our visitors. Use extra cautionary care if you walk on this avenue. Be situationally aware of your surroundings. If walking along Reddam Avenue, it is best to walk on the west sidewalk (side of the Consulate General). Another option is to drive a vehicle on this road. As with previous guidance, it is best to avoid large crowds of people. If you come upon a crime in progress, move away from the area immediately, head towards a safe location, and then notify the police (call: 10-111).

- Maintain vigilance along Reddam Avenue;
- Minimize walking along Reddam Avenue;
- Enroll in Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive updates; and
