American Corners are open to all members of the public and services are free of charge.

The City of Tshwane in partnership with the U.S. Embassy will officially open an American Corner on Wednesday, January 28 2015.

The American Corner, which provides high-speed Internet access and state of the art equipment, together with print and digital resources was established to promote research, professional development, and personal enrichment.

The American Corner will be housed in the Es’kia Mphahlele Community Library, Tshwane’s grandest library in the heart of downtown Pretoria. Corners are open to all members of the public and services are free of charge.

In its endeavor to strengthen ties in education and culture with South Africa, the American Corner also serves as a place for collaboration and discussion to foster young leaders and entrepreneurs and create opportunities to build relationships with peers in the United States.

Among the Speakers of the day will be the U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission, Catherine Hill-Herndon and Deputy Assistant Secretary David Gilmour
