On December 9, the Public Affairs Section at Consulate Durban held a workshop on “Identifying and Assisting Victims of Child Trafficking and Abuse.”

In conjunction with the international campaign of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence, U. S. Fulbright Scholar Susan Kreston and Professor Steve Collings from the University of KwaZulu Natal conducted this informative workshop at the Consulate’s Information Resource Center.

Thirty participants attended, including law enforcement and social workers from local organizations that assist trafficking victims.  Workshop topics focused on the legal definition of trafficking, working with children who have been abused, and preparing children for court.
