The Fulbright Specialist Program (FSP) is for South African institutions to host U.S. faculty or professionals on short-term grants to collaborate on curriculum and faculty development, institutional planning, teaching, or other short-term activities.

Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program:
U.S. institutions of higher education may submit proposals to host Fulbright lecturers from abroad for one or both semesters in an academic year. Preference is given to institutions that are traditionally less involved in international exchange programs, including hosting visiting scholars and to colleges and universities serving minority audiences.

Study of the U.S. Institutes for Scholars (SUSI):
Designed to strengthen curricula and improve the quality of teaching about the United States in academic institutions overseas. University faculty, secondary educators, and other scholars spend approximately four weeks at a U.S. university where they take part in a series of lectures, seminar discussions and site visits related to each institute’s theme. They learn about American educational philosophies, explore new teaching methods, and pursue related research interests.
