South Africa is a water scarce country! The dire situation in the Western Cape demonstrates the urgency of the situation. Can you help solve the problem? Enter our 3D Design Challenge at Rosa Parks Library and Innovation Studio in Soweto, an American Space managed by the U.S. Consulate Johannesburg.
Our challenge to you is this: design a water-saving solution for the average South African household to reduce water consumption or to reuse water at home, without negatively affecting day-to-day household life. Think big and win a prize.
We have the computer-aided design (CAD) software in our Innovation Studio that will allow you to take advantage of the latest 3D printing and additive manufacturing techniques for your device or component. We will also make available the expertise in our studio to help you prepare and output your prototype models to our 3D printers.
Maybe you have an idea for a new kind of filter, shower-head or aerator. Or maybe you have an idea for a design that nobody else has thought about. This is your chance!
You will retain all intellectual property rights for your design!

Want to get even more serious about your design? We also plan to present a facilitated MOOC Camp (Massively Open Online Course) on how to navigate the innovation process from idea generation to commercialization and give you the knowledge for creating strategies to bring your innovations to market.
