Event: Social media posts call for a demonstration on Thursday, July 2, outside the Consulate General between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm.

Actions to Take:

  • Avoid the areas of the demonstrations.
  • Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Keep a low profile.
  • Operating Status: Effective March 26, 2020, U.S. Consulates General  Johannesburg,  Cape Town, and Durban have suspended routine consular services.  For emergency American Citizens Services, including emergency passports, please visit our websites for additional information.
