AUGUST 23, 2022
Routine passport/citizenship and notarial services are by appointment only.
In order to minimize wait time and provide better service, the American Citizen Services section of the American Consulate General in Cape Town operates by appointment only. An appointment is required for all passport applications, consular reports of birth abroad (CRBAs) and notarial services.
All applicants for passports and consular reports of birth abroad (CRBA) must schedule a separate appointment for each applicant. We cannot accommodate multiple applicants in a single appointment slot. For example, if a family of 4 is applying for passports, please schedule 4 separate appointments. All applicants must schedule the correct type of appointment. For example, an appointment booked for a notarial service will not be honored for a CRBA application.
For passport appointments please begin the process here: U.S. Passport Services in South Africa
