The U.S. Embassy in Pretoria and the U.S. Consulate General Johannesburg, in partnership with the Makers Valley Partnership, is pleased to announce the establishment of a new American Space in Victoria Yards, located in Lorentzville, Johannesburg, which the US Ambassador to South Africa Lana Marks proposes to name after the Vice President-elect, the first woman and the first person of color to hold the office of the vice presidency, Kamala Harris.
American Spaces are locations which provide resources for visitors and the local community to learn more about the United States and to exchange best practices and knowledge on a variety of themes.
The American Space in Victoria Yards will officially open next month. The activities of the space will have a special focus on entrepreneurship, STEM and women’s empowerment. As a beacon of hope to the youth of South Africa, the ambassador has proposed to name the space the Kamala Harris American Space, sponsored by Makers Valley.
